Dan Pitt’s Opinionated Compendium of Downtown Palo Alto Restaurants
Our little friend from Kentucky shut up shop on El Camino near Cal. Ave. (only to be replaced by a Wahoo Fish Tacos, the indignity!) but the word around town is that Nola has the best fried chicken of your life, and you can get it to go. Theoretically New Orleans is in the South but theory does not always match practice and in the case of New Orleans (and Nola) what you can find there you can rarely find elsewhere in the South (much less beyond). The concept of Louisiana fried chicken is not unknown but it’s not exactly the first phrase to roll off your tongue in that department. This I have to try.
Also, the rage these days is for little burgers served in multiples. Maybe if you could order them in any quantity it would make more sense, though they are less messy than a burger the size of a manhole cover. Old Pro serves them four to a serving and claims they’re Kobe beef no less. Even more highly regarded are those at Gordon Biersch, whose reputation for dining is definitely starting to creep back from the bilge. Between the taco burgers (another rave) and the sliders people are actually going there for the food!

Nola for........fried chicken? Also, what’s with these little burgers everywhere?
