Neotte, the tea bar, is well and gone. At first the sign said “Closed for remodeling” but now the signs announce that Red Mango will move in there. Neotte offered a comforting setting for a selection of such fine teas that it would be easy to feel incompetent there. Caffe Del Doge Venezia down the block always had far more people there so I can’t say I’m surprised Neotte closed. Red Mango is a national chain of frozen-yogurt shops (close to 30). I’m disappointed that it’s not a local business but I’ve never heard of it before so it’s not like it’s Starbucks.
Also, there have been some changes to Sehbali Cafe and Hookah Shop. It now boasts two names: Da Coffee Spot and Da Hookah Spot but little else appears to have changed. It’s not exactly a place I would go often.
Speaking of name changes, Freddie Maddalena has moved the “Maddalena’s Restaurant” sign over to the spot above the door at Cafe Fino (below the “Cafe Fino” sign). (The old space is becoming Melt Restaurant and Lounge.) We’re not sure what name he will be using for Cafe Fino.
And no changes but just more good reports on Gyros Gyros (corner of University and Cowper) for the freshness of their food.

A few changes downtown
