Dan Pitt’s Opinionated Compendium of Downtown Palo Alto Restaurants
What was Zao Noodle Bar is being remodeled for Oren’s Hummus Shop. (I’m listing in on the Restaurants page under Mediterranean. You have any better ideas?) I will provide details when they emerge.
By the way, Cafe Bon Vivant on Bryant (between University and Hamilton) is still not a cafe. They have been holding art exhibits and small recitals there. It does make a nice little gallery; I can’t imagine it’s optimal for chamber-music acoustics, however. Nor can I explain why it’s not being turned into a restaurant yet.
Speaking of taking forever, the renovation of the big old house just north of Tamarine on University Avenue is proceeding at a snail’s pace, and that might be a snail sliming backward. Will it be a restaurant? Will it be Crustacean? Will it finish in my lifetime? Stay tuned to this RSS feed for breaking stories.

Make rummus for hummus; plus Bon Vivant not vivant yet
