Dan Pitt’s Opinionated Compendium of Downtown Palo Alto Restaurants
What a surprise. Ahead of schedule the new restaurant in the Epiphany Hotel has opened. The Epiphany, located directly across Hamilton Avenue from the Creamery (corner of Emerson), replaces, after extensive renovation, Casa Olga, which was basically an SRO (single room occupancy) lodging for the down and out. The new restaurant cleaves to the natural dining movement with its name – Lure + Till – as well as its menu. Though claiming to serve simple, honest food, the restaurant prepares dishes with the trendy combinations of often unexpected ingredients that most modern chefs use to showcase their sophistication. (Case in point: tagliarini with braised hen jus [whatever that is], rosemary, and thyme blossom, topped with a Jidori egg. Right, simple and honest.) In the case of Lure + Till, one of the most frequent ingredients is kale. Personally, I have nothing against kale, in moderation. Perhaps it’s just in season, and next month most of the dishes will contain zucchini sprouts.
The restaurant has a full bar and some signature cocktails. I have not yet seen the wine list. Prices are not low. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. I have listed Lure + Till under “California” on the Restaurants page.

Whoever thought up this menu must indeed have had an Epiphany
